Carmen Torres
Co-director, Perrone-Sizer Institute For creative leadership
Carmen Milagros Torres (1955-2022) was a pioneer in the Boston Public Schools. She began as a bilingual science teacher, founded a health careers pathway at Brighton High School, and later founded the CVS pre-pharmacy program at Fenway Middle College High School. In 1998 she became the Assistant Headmaster at Boston Arts Academy, Boston’s first visual and performing arts high school, and later was appointed Co-Headmaster. After retiring, she became a clinical faculty member at Boston University. She also served as Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Perrone-Sizer Institute for Creative Leadership which was incubated and run through the Center for Artistry and Scholarship and then at Hale Education. Early in her career, she served as Perinatal Care Coordinator at Codman Square Health Center. Carmen was a friend, mentor, second mother, education ambassador, and helping hand to endless lives in and around the city of Boston and beyond.
